All of a sudden i see red everywhere, not even a day goes by when i dont see a red look on social media. From the catwalks of aw 17 it was clear red will be huge for aw 17 and i think the red effect has spilled over to ss 17.
The red dress in various styles is the most red hot and i am really glad i spotted this slip style floral dress at H&M while shopping for my greece trip. Ah it was just perfection. Had initially planned to wear it in Santorini our second stop in greece but seeing all the gorgeous flowers in Mykonos i got tempted to wear it on our second day.
How to wear red
1. Since its such a bold colour breaking it with a pattern makes it more easy to wear. So choose any patterned top or dress in red like my floral dress here, bright red but the floral pattern breaking the red. You can choose stripes or the trending gingham or any pattern u like.
2. Red turns any piece of clothing or accessory into a statement piece. Imagine a simple tee but in red, now you know what i am trying to say. A red tee with a blue jean is the simplest outfit but it makes a statement. Wearing a red top makes the most casual outfits trendy.
3. Red is actually a great colour to add to your wardrobe incase, just like me you mostly love neutrals because it makes a great pop with all the neutrals there are. And if you are a colour lover i am sure u already have a lot of red. Signifying confidence and passion it can actually be ladylike and daring at the same time. A combination i love.
4. If you are a fan of red then this is your time to wear red all over. A red top with a red bottom and red shoes.
5. In case you still find red intimidating rock it in the form of accessories. think red earrings, bags, necklace and shoes. Keep the rest of ur outfit neutral and have a pop of red.
6. The hottest colour combo with red at the moment is pink. yes you read it right, pink, i could not have ever imagined it to be a colour combo even but yes it is and it looks great, fiery and head turning, red with pink looks feminine but fiery, soft but bold just a contrast of moods and you guys know how much i love contrast so its but obvious that i can’t wait to wear it myself. e.g A red bottom paired with a pink top or a red cami layered over a pink dress/ top, etc.

I am writing to you from the magical greek island Santorini. Sitting on a sofa in the terrace of our apartment, the sea is all my eyes can see and the the sound of the water is all my ears can hear. Bliss as they call it. Nature is bliss. In Greece everything is white and everything looks beautiful and that is making me write this post why white always does it, i have been wanting to write this post for long but being in Greece, i had to do the first. I love white and out of a bunch of things in various colours i instinctively gravitate towards white, its also the colour or no colour i wear most often as you already have seen so its actually not be said that it is my favourite. That said today i am putting the top reasons why white works.
- White is a clean slate so everything/ all colours pop against it.
- Anything white automatically gives you a very pure, innocent, young and fresh vibe.
- Not just fashion white spaces look brighter and bigger as white reflects light as compared to all other colours that absorb light.
- It is an extremely versatile colour leaving you loads of colour combination options.
- White is traditional and classy as well as modern so it can be worn by people of all ages.
- It gets you all the attention. Imagine a room full of people and you walk in wearing all white, 100% you will make heads turn and be the centre of attraction.
- For its light reflecting properties it is a blessing in the summer and of course, if you live in a hot place like Delhi, where winters are hardly ever below 10 degrees celsius, all year round. I think i love white more now because of my life in Delhi, just can’t think of any colour other than pastels and white on my body in that heat. Its almost a frightful sight to see someone in hot pink or red or any of those bright loud colours in Delhi. 45 degrees celsius and colour don’t go together.
A white dress is a summer must have for all the reasons above. Embroidery is another for ss17 and this customized dress from eshakti kills two birds by one stone. Gingham is the print of the year, actually it has been trending for 2 years now but this year its blown to magnificent proportions. I cannot be happier because i love it a lot and can’t stop myself from adding more and more pieces into my wardrobe. The stores are full of it and i can also see it on the streets in force, just the other day i was at Toni & Guy vasant vihar for the canaan mineral meni pedi and the the lovely girl at the front desk was wearing a very pretty gingham blouse with a pencil skirt and i was very happy to see that. So that brings me to the point i want to make i.e Gingham is not a restrictive print it works very well from casual to formal looks and from feminine to cool looks. You have already seen me wear this skirt in this all gingham outfit for a more formal and feminine look and today i am rocking it in a super casual cool attire.
Some might find Gingham a little intimidating or school girl type or tame but my lovely you need not be because it is very fun.
- For beginners just pair a gingham blouse with your skinny jeans and you are already fab.
- Choose pieces with more details like ruffles, frills, embroidery, origami etc to make it more 2017.
- Since the print is so out there keep your hair natural and accessories minimum.
- Pair your gingham blouse with tailored trousers for a more sleek look.
- A gingham skirt with a white tee (also black) is a combination for the win.
- Gingham dress with strappy black heels will be evening appropriate.
