I often think about the events or tasks that might be basic and day to day or even special and occasional but can be taken to another level to give a real wow feel if done with an extra bit of help aka with the service of a professional. You know those things that we know how to do and do not usually want to spend on! Lol!! Today i am sharing 3 things that would be well worth spending that extra buck on.

when to spend on the service of a professional, paddy fields, golden fields, lifestyle tips, bidvine, bidvine review, local professional service online, british blog, indian blog, indian lifestyle blog

  1. Professional cleaning- Alright we know how to dust and wash, might even have a maid to help but i am not talking about any random house help. I mean a professional who is well versed with domestic cleaning, works like a zen and leaves your house spic and span. I mean why not a professionally cleaned house stays clean longer and is much more hygienic. Whenever i have got my house cleaned by a professional i have had the wow factor living in for days that far surpasses the extra buck i spent.
  2. Wedding planning - It can be expensive and mostly people avoid the cost but weddings are full of stress, be it your own or a family members getting outside help only helps in letting one enjoy the special occasion. Should not be even said that a professionally planned wedding has a different shine and after all how many times one gets married so that extra cost is well worth.
  3. Professional photographer-  Human beings are visual creatures and with the increased captivation of social media in our lives every moment seems like not lived if not captured in a photograph. Being a blogger with a social media following even more. Traditionally pictures were taken on special occasions like wedding, engagement, baby shower, birthday, anniversary, etc but now photo taking has become an unconscious activity, almost. For capturing moments and occasions we often use our phone but those random phone pictures more often than not get deleted after a few days as compared to a well composed well shot photo that can almost be a treasure and that is the reason I invested in a DSLR early on. Our DSLR works for my blog pictures as well as to take pictures of family functions and special occasions, having said that neither me nor anyone in my family is really professionally qualified. So we also lookout for economical and efficient photography services believing a well shot photo can almost be a treasure.

Everything runs in cycles, and the age of the pre-owned, rented and shared is back.  Millennials are opting to buy pre-owned watches instead of the latest models.  The new generations prefer to rent a tux rather than spend hundreds on a new one. And the first multi item rental shops are popping up.

indian blog, indian blogger, top indian blog, indian luxury blog, uk blog, british blog, london blog, delhi blogger, delhi travel blogger, indian travel blog, indian travel blogger, indian lifestyle blog, 15 items you should never buy preowned, second hand item checklist, what to not buy preowned, fine jewellery, british lifestyle blog

But there are some items you should never buy pre-owned whether that is for hygiene or safety purposes, here are a few!

  1. Baby Crib
Baby cribs have been an item that has endured many recalls over the years whether it’s due to the crib being painted with paint containing lead or due to the risk of strangulation of the child. In 2011, the Consumer Product Safety Commission also banned the sale of drop-side cribs after several children died. All up-to-date information on recalls can be found at the CPSC.gov website. Check these before buying your child a NEW crib!

 2. Car Seats
Many people do not know it, but car seats actually have a “shelf life” meaning they should only be used for so long before they are disposed of. Buying previously owned car seats can also be dangerous as it’s not known if the car seat was previously compromised or damaged. If you must buy used car seats do it from someone you personally know and trust.

3. Fine Jewelry/Watches
If you can’t authenticate the realness of it with 100% assurance you are probably wasting money. Spending money on something that “looks” real can land you in a lot of trouble. Even used these prices are not “cheap” and it’s a lot of money. There are a lot of fakes out there that look 100% real. Unless you have paperwork to authenticate your purchase, or you buy from a site like Chronoexpert who verify every one of the watches on their site, consider steering clear of used luxury items.

 4. Baby Bottles
Buying used baby bottles allow any sort of previous viruses or bacteria from the previous child that used it to possibly get into your child’s mouth. Moreover, this can cause a serious illness to the child. Also, bottles sold before 2012 when BPA’s were found harmful and outlawed in the US may still contain them. New bottles are your best bet.

5. Mattresses
Mattresses may be one of the worst things you can buy used. When buying a used mattress then you are also buying all the owners previous bodily secretions and dead skin cells! While the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can recommend signs to look for to find things like bed bugs no system of telling is foolproof. Point being your best bet is a new mattress.

6. Sheets/Pillows/Bedding
The same deal goes for sheets/pillows/bedding as did for mattresses. You are buying the previous owners bodily secretions and dead skin cells as well! It’s best to go new.

 7. Used Pet Beds

Just like it’s not recommended to buy humans used bedding the same goes for your pet. The previous animal that used that bed is now passing its dead skin, fur, viruses, etc onto your lovely pet. Buy Fido a new bed, too!

8. Make-Up
Unless you want all of the bacteria and germs from someone else’s face spread onto yours, make-up is best bought brand new. Any germs or bacteria the previous owner had are lurking in that makeup. You are putting it all over your mouth and eyes and all over your face so avoid pre-owned make-up.

 9. Hair/Makeup Brushes
If the person had a pink eye virus it may well be on their makeup brushes. If someone had lice it very well could be on their hairbrush. When it comes to brushes just buy new so you don’t risk getting what the previous owner may have had. You will spend more getting treatment than you saved.

10. Vacuum Cleaner
“But it’s still running just fine” Yeah! We’ve heard that argument before plenty of times. Chances are if the person is getting rid of the vacuum it’s not doing much vacuuming anymore. At that point, you are pushing a machine around your house just for a cardio workout. You’re not vacuuming much of anything. Plus, any bacteria, germs, or dust mites that got vacuumed up before will end up in your home! Check discount stores for better deals on new vacuums.

11. Shoes
It can be very tempting to buy second hand shoes at the charity of vintage store, but did you know that when you purchase someone’s used shoes you are also buying a shoe that conformed to someone else’s foot. That shoe is not likely to be very comfortable for you to wear unless you have the same foot shape. What are the chances of that? Slim to ZERO.

12. Worn Cookware
Buying slightly used heavy duty pots and pans are probably not harmful but buying well-used cookware with flaky surfaces and crusts on them may cause the chemicals in the coating on the pots or pans to leak into your food, and moreover, may contain potential carcinogens.

13. Small Appliances
These have become relatively inexpensive so buying new should be reasonable. You never know what will be wrong with a previous appliance you buy from someone else. The warranty has likely expired. If it breaks you will be out the money plus what you have to buy to replace it. Blenders, microwaves, toasters, just buy new.

14. Bike/Motorcycle Helmets
There is a very serious safety issue when it comes to helmets if it has been damaged or compromised then it will no longer protect you. See here for more info about how a bike helmet works.

15. Tires
Although the tire might pass the age old “penny test” it’s not a safe bet to buy used tires. If they were damaged like the sidewalls inside the tire you wouldn’t know it. If there’s a recall you won’t hear about it. Buy new tires.

Rain mixed with heat can spell a disaster combination. Obviously the humidity is up the roof and humidity spells to chip chip and not that clean feeling. Precisely how i feel in Delhi from June end till September start. I am bit of a cleanliness freak to the point of not wanting to leave my house from the fear of not feeling clean when out, lol anyways the one product that always stays in my bag when out is a hand sanitizer.

I remember the first time i was introduced to hand sanitizer some decades back i almost dint believe it. As a child i could only think of having clean hands after washing with soap and water, it took me quite a few days to accept that their could be a revolutionary product to clean hands specially on the go.

Recently I came across the new range of sanitizers from trusted brand Himalaya. Five fun and fresh exciting flavours , Green Apple, Litchi, Orange, Strawberry and Lemon. Just the flavours that would refresh your senses and give that clean and fresh feel, all the citrus flavours do that right!!!!

The packaging is very practical a plastic transparent bottle with a easy to open lid and the size 50ml is perfect to keep in ur bag or even wallet and also perfect for travel.

Just like the original formula the new PureHands range is herbal and alcohol based,  filled with the goodness of herbs like Coriander which has potent antimicrobial properties, Lime which is a natural bactericidal,  Neem which is antibacterial, fungicidal and antiviral. Ingredients that safely keep viruses, bacteria and fungi at bay killing 99.9% of germs.  The new flavours are priced at Rs. 80/-

Most of us usually sanitize our hands before eating but its also suggested to sanitize before or after one of these.

  1. after using public convenience services like toilet, transport, etc.
  2. before and after attending to a sick person.
  3. before touching infants or small children.
  4. after touching animals.
  5. coming from hospitals, doctors clinic, etc.
  6. any public surface.
  7. last but not the least always while traveling.
I would also say with the rainy season in Delhi and the various common viruses around this time
sanitizing hands even at home is important.

Lets talk about the sneaker trends for this year.  Meant for sports but as i mentioned in my how to dress like a street style pro post perfect to get the street style points and also the casual chic points!!!
Be it sports, shopping or a lunch date they are serving the feet of us ladies and may god bless the woman who first dared to pair them with feminine pieces that made them the rage that they are at the moment.

When it comes to sports shoes there are the 3 brands that obviously call the shots Nike, Adidas and Puma. I can’t decide what girl i am out of the 3. Because i have worn all the 3 brands over the years of my life and loved all. Most recently i was looking for a pair for my cousin and loved the Puma sports shoes for women range. Gravitating towards colours although i usually think and feel black and white work best, hot pinks, reds and blues look quite fun too. Specially pink!!

Sneaker trends for the year 2017 - I am seeing on social media, the fashion girls have been wearing the dad style sneakers which totally goes on to say that it is one of the trends. Other than that i went to Zara a few days back and i saw some really cool satin sneakers on the front shelf, another signal of spotting a trend as i mentioned in my when to buy trends post. Since embroidery is in for this year embroidered shoes are as well and of course pale pink the new chic colour of 2017.

Jeans, tee and sneaker is one of my favourite looks that i love to wear absolutely everywhere given my casual lifestyle, the above outfit i actually wore on a day exploring Madagascar around New years this year. Lol better late then never as they say!

Which is your loved sports shoe brand? Are you up for the sneaker trends?

Summer oh summer, not really the best time for creativity with outfits. Becomes even more difficult on travel with tons of foreign factors to think about that do not really spell casual chic. Today i am sharing with you a look that is super casual but super chic to wear on your travel, no matter where you go! Wait a second its actually a super casual chic outfit to wear in summer anywhere on the planet and not just on travel!!!!

Stripes the glorious classic stripe how can you ever go wrong with it add lightweight breathable cotton fabric and you have a combo to charm the world in summer but wait we also have the flattering fit and flare mixed with a shirt dress style and a front tie basically the cutest and the chicest dress for summer. Paired with flat pink sandals the outfit guarantees you comfort style and great travel pictures without the trouble i mean i sometimes wonder how girls wear those super princess like outfits while travelling. How do they manage to explore!!!!!

Basically the look translates to a breathable stripe dress with comfy flat sandal making the chicest combo, just that simple!

What i wore- Dress - light in the box, Sandals- Asos

I wore this outfit on our last evening in Athens. I was at my tannest best and absolutely was in love with how the dress and my sandals looked against the tan. The light in the box dress is on major repeat, i am that kind who finds something comfortable and good looking and goes on to wear and re wear till the piece goes down! i mean why not just wear tried and tested then to think and think!!

Thank you for stopping by, see you with my next!

Athens the oldest european city is a city of contradictions, you visit to see the old but the new is in your face too. Its not a pretty pretty european city but it has things beyond pretty, culture and history. We had 24 hours to explore Athens which i initially thought would be nothing but it turned out Athens can be and very well done in a day!

Follow this simple itinerary to spend the most perfect 24 hours in Athens.

indian blog, indian blogger, top indian blog, indian luxury blog, uk blog, british blog, london blog, delhi blogger, delhi travel blogger, indian travel blog, indian travel blogger, athens, athens travel, athens travel guide, 24 hours in athens, how to do athens in a day, athens travel itinerary, summer greece, europe travel info, top travel destination, travel 2017, travel to greece, tips for traveling to greece, athens travel tips, acropolis, top archaeological site, acropolis athens, view from acropolis, top sites athens, top tourist attractions, athens tourist attractions,

When you have a short time for a place, where you stay is the most important decision, comfort and convenience to put it straight. Plush New hotel wins on all grounds, close to the attractions and comfortable in each and every aspect of hospitality.

Stay at the New hotel - The arty and bold New hotel can be reached in 30 mins from the airport in taxi and is situated about 200 mtrs from the main square of Athens, Syntagma. All the main attractions of the city are at a walking distance, comfortable and real walking distance, we didn’t take taxi anywhere.

The decor- The 5 star luxurious property designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana speaks locally but resonates universally. You are in a world class property but you feel Athens and Greece even lying on your uber luxurious bed and that is the achievement of the duo. The reception area and the ground floor restaurant are done up with unique wood work, very unconventional but the earthy tones are soothing to your senses.

The rooms are a great size with modern decor, the fluffiest of beds, the kind of bedroom that you feel is calling you for a soothing therapy. The bathroom definitely takes the cake, very rich and luxurious with all the gold totally ready to pamper!!!

The restaurants- Apart from the arty ground floor restaurant where we had a scrumptious breakfast brunch on our last day there is a 7th floor rooftop New Art Lounge, also tastefully done with stunning views of the acropolis and the city. So stunning that we actually decided to watch the sunset from there instead of the Acropolis.

The staff- I tell you the decor, food and location are great but the nerve of a great hotel is the staff and the staff at The New hotel always courteous, smiling and willing to help making your feel at home.

Now with your stay at the most perfect place you are all set to conquer Athens.

After breakfast at your hotel head to the Syntagma square the heart of modern Athens, admire the parliament building and watch the evzones perform their distinctive walk as they stand and watch over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. then head to the national garden, making the most peaceful of mornings lush green with canopies formed over the paths by the big leaves and pretty ponds.

After filling your soul with nature let your imagination wander at the Acropolis museum. Be surprised by its open spaces and sleek and modern state of art design. What contrast the design is to the statues and sculptures it houses!!! You can also have a great view of the Acropolis from the outdoor cafe at the museum.

Its time for lunch now, while there are many options in the acropolis museum area i recommend you head to the historical area of Thiseio. Spotting the Filopappou Hill and the archaeological site of Ancient Agora you can lunch at any of the traditional cafes or greek taverns in Monastiraki area. Remember to finish your meal with the world famous greek coffee. Monastiraki also has a flea market and perfect for greek products shopping.

Head to the oldest museum in Greece the National archaeological museum a neoclassical building, here you can view the diverse treasures from excavations all around Greece ranging from prehistoric to late antiquity.

It will be around 4 pm and now stop nowhere and head to the pilgrimage, the main event in Athens The acropolis. Coming from the Archeological museum you will first find The Parthenon, the athenian temple built in 5th century Bc. spend some time there and then trek up to the acropolis. Soak in the strength of the place and the views of the city from top. You can sit there and see the sun go down on the most ancient european city.

Its time for dinner and coming down the acropolis you have the best place for a meal in Athens, Plaka. The oldest neighborhood in Athens resting on the foot of the Acropolis, a maze of cobbled streets oozing with atmosphere best experienced in the early evenings when the cafes overflow with people. There is dance, music fantastic food, fascinating architecture to absorb. Plaka is life, mediterranean life at its best.

I will say there is lots more to experience in Athens than what a day aka 24 hours permit, having said that we were quite satisfied that we could cover all the main attractions and got a solid grip of the city with the itinerary above,  i must also admit it wouldn’t have been possible if we didn’t have the most comfortable and convenient place to stay in the form of New hotel.
