You guys know I am a sucker for a multitasking wardrobe. Repurposing and wearing pieces in different ways and on different occasions help me to not just minimize the need to buy n different things but also reduce the net cost of buying pieces. Its Diwali time followed by the wedding season, calls for n outfits,  apart from the main days we have those days for Diwali parties and get-togethers. Outfits and outfits needed so this year I decided to make my dresses and non-traditional clothes work for the season by wearing them with traditional jewellery. Earrings are my go-to jewellery item and I was almost surprised how Indian and traditional they make even my boho modern dresses look.

My boho modern dress from Zara is given a traditional, apt for the festive and wedding season look by these beautiful chandelier pearl earrings made in silver from a brand I recently discovered, Tsara. Makers of destination silver jewellery, it rang a bell, all the pieces were stunning looking and so pocket-friendly, I had to know their story. And here it is,  the owners Tarun and Natasha were in Udaipur, Rajasthan attending a friends wedding.  After reaching their room post the sangeet function Natasha realised that one of her gold bangles was missing. They searched and searched but didn’t find it. Apart from the sadness of the loss she also felt ashamed and embarrassed to inform Tarun’s mother when they come back home. And there came the idea of making jewellery which looks just as good, if not better, than gold and diamond jewellery, so women can travel with it without stressing.
Stressing about the financials of how much jewellery actually costs.
Stressing about after purchasing it, it just sits in the bank lockers.
Stressing about customs for international flights.
Stressing about it left in hotel rooms.
Stressing about the jewellery getting lost.

I think we have all experienced some or all of those fears. I showed the pieces to my mother and she was in love instantly, her words ‘ who wants the stress, if there is no compromise on looks’.  Tsara's brand philosophy is to look your best without the stress of what might happen to your jewellery. So they use colour stones and setting styles which the diamond jewellers use but replace the gold and diamonds with silver and cubic zirconias. Couldn’t have been better, even for my sister's wedding trousseau we are considering a few pieces from Tsara.

You might be thinking that silver oxidizes so, ok yes it does but Tsara uses rhodium plating which gold and diamond jewellers use so the process is very slow. They also give an anti-tarnish cloth that helps bring the shine back to a greater extent. The products might be a little on the pricier side but the quality and the look totally compensate for it. And actually very versatile, I wore this piece with my dress for Diwali party and I can wear with any of my traditional clothes for the wedding season. Which reduces the cost even further, the number of times and ways you wear a piece determines the true amount you spend on it, right!!!

Well, I am one of those girls who would literally spend just about 5 minutes on her makeup, not that I do not have time but I like to have a simpler what works for me makeup routine than trying out a zillion things. It is the Diwali and wedding season, we want to have that great looking skin but are usually short of time so I thought of sharing my simple makeup routine with you all, the routine is simple but the look is well worth any festival,  get-togethers or even a small party.

diwali makeup, indian beauty blogger, olive skin tone makeup, makeup for tan skin, simple dewy makeup look

Step 1. Moisturize and prime your face - I can’t stress enough how important these are, a well moisturized and primed face is the prerequisite for any makeup. Whenever I wear makeup I use Embryolisse lait creme concentrate as moisturizer and for primer, I use bare mineral prime time or NYX hd photogenic primer. The Embryolisse creme is one of my holy grails, blending is a piece of cake, helps with staying power and above all makes skin very supple and hydrated which shows in the makeup.

Step 2. If your skin does not need much coverage I suggest skipping on the foundation. Here I used concealer to conceal my under eyes, even out the skin tone near my mouth and then whatever product was left on the makeup sponge I just patted it on my nose. I always use a sponge for concealer/ foundation and before I begin I spray smash box primer water on the sponge, this not only makes the sponge wettish which helps to spread the makeup but also helps with the staying power of the makeup.

Step 3. Next, I put Ben Nye banana powder on all the areas I applied the concealer, and then just run the same brush all over the face. Gosh, this is the one product that has changed my makeup game completely. Keeps my makeup rocking for more than 12 hours and the finish is superb.

Step 4. Blush it on. Soft pink or dusty pink look great.

Step 5. Do your eyebrows, yes go on fill them! So much structure and character in just one step. I either use the Maybelline fiber brow precise or the NYX brow kit in dark brown or both.

Step 6. Mascara, putting eyeliner and making sure they match is a task for most, so just do 2 quotes of mascara and tada!! I am wearing Loreal telescopic.

Step 7. Of course a lippie, for Indian festivals and weddings shades of pink and red work best.

that's all but if you have time

Step 8. Dab some highlight on the cheekbones and on the high points of your eyelid below the eyebrows. Here I used Mac soft and gentle.

Step 9. Softly define the crease of your eyelid with a soft brown eyeshadow.

This is a very basic simple makeup routine that barely takes me about 5-7 mins max.

Hope this post is helpful, would love to know whats your simple yet fancy makeup look.

I might have missed out on the whole fashion week season this year but I couldn’t miss this one show at the Amazon India fashion week in Delhi, Sahil Kochhar. But first, let's get done with my look. Well, red is the colour of the moment and layering the thing of autumn so that is what it was!!! A red wrap blouse with a red full skirt worn over skinny jeans and metallic red loafers. The beret was more of a practical choice than a fashion one actually, its a deal to wash my hair and I had no time. Works wonderfully that it is the accessory of the moment!!!!

Now about the brand Sahil Kochhar. I have been going to his shows for the last two years and I have to say I am so proud. I believe in this world as a whole, there can’t be any isolation so you have to be with the global sensibilities and trends, having said that for Indian fashion and the brands and designers the strength is the traditional crafts, fabrics and the rich cultural heritage. And when the two marry the creation is not just beautiful but also unique. Something that has an Indian soul but very global and modern and that is brand Sahil Kochhar. His ss18 collection ticked all the boxes. Titled Rooh, meaning soul, inspired by the soul of the curiously mystical jungles of India. A slew of models sashayed the runway in a dream of white and pastel coloured, intricately embroidered fabrics. A masterclass in silhouettes, cuts, and fabric. Spelling spring summer and the freshness and the breeziness that they channel.

Delhi is brimming with festivities after the festivals starts the wedding season. That only means either you are trousseau shopping or someone you know is. My hands are full with responsibilities for my sisters wedding most importantly shopping. When shopping for trousseau one piece that can be overlooked but is very essential for every girl's bridal trousseau is a cocktail dress. Indian wedding shopping we tend to think of sarees, suits, lehngas and the likes. Dresses don’t come to mind, at least didn't come to ours when shopping for my little sisters but were thankfully reminded well on time by mom, just like always mom knows it all!!

We all have those cocktails parties and events to go to so don’t forget to keep one cocktail dress in your trousseau. Now about the look. I will admit I have done the least here, my only contribution is the messy bun and the earrings which add to the look but obviously do not make it. The maker is the dress designed by upcoming designer duo Uma and Siddhartha for their brand Vaasas fashion studio. And the star is the embellished cape, made of real stones, the kind that makes you the show stopper and the head turner of the event. I felt like a star, no,  I actually felt very beautiful wearing it!!

I am a quotes person, why?  here are the reasons
  1. They put sense to so many things.
  2. They inspire.
  3. They are learnings and knowledge.
  4. They open different perspectives.
  5. This one is weird,  but sometimes it's safer to use someone else’s words than yours.
  6. They say what I want to say in the best possible way.
  7. They lift my mood.
So I love collecting them be it on Pinterest or Instagram or wherever.

And since its the weekend I thought of sharing some of my most loved ones at the moment, with you.
    1. You know what you are but know not what you may be - Shakespeare
    2. The realest people don’t have a lot of friends - Tupac
    3. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck - 14th Dalai Lama
    4. If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day- E.B White

Yes there are no rules in fashion and I am no fashion guru, not even close, but let's talk about this outfit combination first, the one autumn winter outfit that looks super stunning and is super easy to put on, dress over trousers/ jeans. It has been a huge trend for a good couple of years now, well,  I like to think of it from the point of view of practicality. 1. getting more use of our summer dresses, 2. a new outfit from pieces you have already worn a zillion times 3. weather appropriate. For more reasons check this post I did last year. Basically ticking all the right boxes.

why there are no rules in fashion, dress over trousers, lace dress, velvet trousers, velvet pants, dress over pants, autumn winter outfit, cold weather outfit idea, cool girl style, effortless chic, indian blogger, indian fashion blogger, uk blogger british blog, indian blog, delhi blog, wear in autumn

I usually wear my dresses with jeans but on this occasion, I tried my wide leg cropped velvet trousers and I must admit I was surprised. Also surprised with how a fit and flare dress can look cool with a wide leg bottom. The rules about silhouettes, wear something fitted on top with something loose on the bottom clearly not holding, not just here I mostly put together outfits with a blind eye to the fashion rules keeping just my style in mind and they are always a winner, check here outfit 1, outfit 2 and so many more. The rules in fashion were made by whosoever at whatever time, times change and just like any other rule the fashion rules too,  don't hold. So keep your style in mind, strongly recommend that,  and do whatever the hell you want to do!!!

I took these pictures in Santorini Greece, yes you read it right, the scenery is so unlike the Santorini image! well, Santorini is not just white and blue, this beach was in the village Kamari where we stayed and as I mentioned in my Instagrammers guide to Santorini is a great place to stay away from the crowds yet very close to all the attractions. Unexpectedly, it was raining the day we reached, a mood dampener but turned out to be a blessing, we had the whole beach to ourself!!!

Why there are no rules in fashion

Yes there are no rules in fashion and I am no fashion guru, not even close, but let's talk about this outfit combination first, the one autumn winter outfit that looks super stunning and is super easy to put on, dress over trousers/ jeans. It has been a huge trend for a good couple of years now, well,  I like to think of it from the point of view of practicality. 1. getting more use of our summer dresses, 2. a new outfit from pieces you have already worn a zillion times 3. weather appropriate. For more reasons check this post I did last year. Basically ticking all the right boxes.

There has been a fad of late to find the most hidden gems, places no one has ever been to, discoveries even in busy and frequented cities like London. I will lie if I say I am not a fan of that, I am, but somehow I am very drawn to the old popular landmarks, even more, something about the time they have been around, memories and things like those. In London spending time by the Thames is one of my favourites and the view over it and the city from The London eye definitely on my top 5.

Most recently I had the chance to experience the views from Coca cola London Eye on the last day of London fashion week  ss17, which means around the same time last year. After a hectic yet super exciting fashion week, I and my 2 blogger friends decided on ditching a cocktail event and instead of heading towards the Thames for a spin on our favourite wheel there is.  We were so done with all the hustle and wanted a relaxing time, luckily the sun was out and River Thames glistened. London eye always seems extremely soothing to me. Almost makes me feel like a child easing the tensions of adulthood. And so it was. Awestruck as ever to look at the Thames from up above, the Buckingham Palace, a scattering of autumn leaves below, trees some barren some still holding, it was a refreshing feeling and a wonderful sight. Bringing back many nostalgic memories for the 3 of us. One such memory for me was of my 4-year-old niece whose eyes twinkled just like the twinkle of the Thames on her first spin on the London Eye. She couldn't contain herself with her first 360 degrees view over the London landscape!!! Equally exciting for her were the tablets set at the perimeter of the capsule giving crisp info on the 44 featured buildings ( London's top attractions like The British Museum, St Pauls, etc)  when were they made, distance from the London Eye, etc

We came down and to commemorate our visit got a picture clicked and then decided to take a small walk. There was still time so sat down for a hearty girly chat. It was around 4 pm and there was a sudden chill in the air but the view of our favourite Ferris wheel and the conversations were so comforting and warm that ice cream sounded like a good idea. Yes, we got two scoops each from the ice cream van near the entrance. Ah, I miss the day so much. Luckily for me, I have a visit planned around Christmas this year with my family. We are thinking of booking a slot around sunset, just can't wait, can't wait to reminisce old memories and to make new ones.

Sharing with you some of my favourite pictures of The London Eye in my collection! Hope you enjoy!

During the colder months the prints take a back seat but this year one print has taken the fashion world by storm. The heritage check. It is also the one clear and universal trend spotted on the streets of New York, London, Milan and now Paris during the ss18 fashion weeks. Surprised as I am, how this country vibe print looks so cool, chic and contemporary!!!

heritage check, effortless chic, indian blogger, uk blog, autumn outfit

Actually, a very versatile print to wear that can stay in your wardrobe forever, is appropriate for all ages, works for most styles, can take you from desk to date or day to night, can be both pretty and powerful hence I say,  go get it,  even if the following 3 points apply to you. 1. you are an anti-trend person- why the hell should I be bothered with the trends, I just stick to what is in my closet and works for me.  2. You don't have the budget to do much shopping.  3. You are sick of constant additions to your closet- in other words, you are tired of shopping.

The blazer is obviously a great choice for the autumn-winter season so I decided on it for my first heritage check purchase but I am also considering trousers, keeping my fingers crossed to lay my hands on a matching one at Zara, which I think I should have bought at the first place!!!

What i wore- Trousers, Blazer - Zara, Shoes- Adidas , Cami- Asos

Velvet is another huge trend and I couldn't stop myself from wearing these cropped trousers with the heritage check blazer. If I just change my footwear here I will be ready for any formal meeting, don't you think!!!

As I also said in my autumn trend post, if there is just one trend you choose for a/w 17 make it this one and after the parade of fashion weeks I am saying it yet again.
