During the colder months the prints take a back seat but this year one print has taken the fashion world by storm. The heritage check. It is also the one clear and universal trend spotted on the streets of New York, London, Milan and now Paris during the ss18 fashion weeks. Surprised as I am, how this country vibe print looks so cool, chic and contemporary!!!

heritage check, effortless chic, indian blogger, uk blog, autumn outfit

Actually, a very versatile print to wear that can stay in your wardrobe forever, is appropriate for all ages, works for most styles, can take you from desk to date or day to night, can be both pretty and powerful hence I say,  go get it,  even if the following 3 points apply to you. 1. you are an anti-trend person- why the hell should I be bothered with the trends, I just stick to what is in my closet and works for me.  2. You don't have the budget to do much shopping.  3. You are sick of constant additions to your closet- in other words, you are tired of shopping.

The blazer is obviously a great choice for the autumn-winter season so I decided on it for my first heritage check purchase but I am also considering trousers, keeping my fingers crossed to lay my hands on a matching one at Zara, which I think I should have bought at the first place!!!

What i wore- Trousers, Blazer - Zara, Shoes- Adidas , Cami- Asos

Velvet is another huge trend and I couldn't stop myself from wearing these cropped trousers with the heritage check blazer. If I just change my footwear here I will be ready for any formal meeting, don't you think!!!

As I also said in my autumn trend post, if there is just one trend you choose for a/w 17 make it this one and after the parade of fashion weeks I am saying it yet again.

Your thoughts on heritage check, thank you for stopping by, see you with my next!

Wedding season is here, if you are a bride to be bridal makeup trousseau is definitely on your list, we have two weddings in our family this year and i am full on in the wedding prep mode. Yesterday i was finalizing makeup with the two brides, we thought of essentials as well as items that will help the brides do their makeup for the pre and post wedding functions. Since indian weddings are so opulent we decided its best to book a professional hair and makeup artist for the wedding day and bigger functions like mehndi, etc and for the small get togethers do it yourself. After deciding on the must haves with the brides i thought its a great idea for a post so today i am sharing the items you must ensure in your bridal makeup trousseau.

indian blogger, indian beauty blogger, indian beauty blog, indian fashion blog, indian fashion blogger, delhi blogger, delhi blog, indian lifestyle blog, indian travel blog, uk blogger, london blogger, british blog, makeup trousseau essentials, bridal makeup kit, makeup kit essentials

A good skincare routine (day and night) for healthy, glowing skin is the mantra for every bride to be. While there is no replacement for this, sometimes we take the help of makeup to further accentuate our features. And to do this we need the right products and a go to makeup it. So what exactly should this kit contain? Here is the scoop :
1. Foundation – Base is everything, so make sure the foundation you pick matches your natural skintone. Maybelline Fit Me, L’oreal 24H matte and MAC studio fix are some of the best ones in the Indian market. MAC is running an awesome sale these days, go checkout them in your nearby store.
2. Concealer – If you have dark circles or blemishes you need to conceal, fret not. A good concealer that is lightweight and long lasting will do the trick. Maybelline age rewind, NARS radiant creamy and Bobbi Brown have a pretty good shade range.
3. Powder – A good habit to follow is to set your base with powder. For this purpose you can use L’oreal Mat magique compact or Clinique loose powder.
4. Eyeshadow – Palettes from Maybelline (The Nudes) and Makeup Revolution are super versatile and enable you to create a lot of different eye makeup looks. If you prefer singles, check out MAC All that glitters, Expensive pink, Coppering and Bronzed.
5. Eyeliner – Lakme Eyeconic and Maybelline colossal eyeliners have been crowd favourites for a while now and are still going strong. They’re easily available, pocket friendly and smooth to apply. Black, brown, green or blue – pick whichever strikes your fancy.
6. Lipstick – Every makeup kit should have atleast one nude, one MLBB (my lips but better) shade and one bright pink / red. Apart from these, you can add in more according to your skintone like corals, deeper maroons, pinkish browns etc. MAC has a lot of pretty hues like Mocha, Relentlessly Red, Mehr and Party Parrot. Huda Beauty has a wonderful line of liquid mattes – our favourite is Heartbreaker.
7. Blush – For a very subtle and natural flush on your cheeks, we recommend a lip and cheek stain. Benefit cosmetics Benetint (Luxe category) and Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse lip and cheek colour (Affordable category) are perfect for this.
8. Setting spray – The magic ingredient that ensures your makeup stays in place without budging or smudging for a longer duration of time. Our favourite is the MAC Fix + but if you have people coming from abroad you could ask them to get Urban decay or Makeup Forever fixing spray for you.
9. Brushes / Makeup sponge – The tools of the trade. If you prefer using brushes, look at ones from MAC and Sigma Beauty. For sponges, the most popular choice is the Beauty Blender which is now available online in India at Nykaa.
10. Makeup Remover – We’ve listed this at the end but it is the most essential part of every makeup kit. A variety of options are available out there so pick one that suits your skin. Makeup removing wipes from Clinique or The Body Shop, Micellar waters from Bioderma or L’oreal and Oil free remover from Maybelline are quite effective.

With the bridal makeup trousseau jotted i also suggest looking for Bridal Makeup and Hair photos for ideas on makeup looks and having a one to one session with your makeup artist before the event.

Hope this post was helpful, thank you for stopping by, see you with my next.

It would not be wrong if i say i am obsessed with polka dots, so when i saw this blouse in fun candy colour polkas in zara i couldn’t stop myself from grabbing. The fit was beautiful and i could imagine myself wearing it with almost any bottom in my wardrobe.  No impulsive shopping.
Two reasons i love polka dots are 1. they are almost a classic 2. great for mixing prints. So that means its a very safe print to buy, something that can stay in your wardrobe for long and be used in different outfits.

Like stripes, almost.

Lets talk about mixing prints today
  1. Two classic prints can always be paired together without  much thought, like a polka dot blouse with a pinstripe trouser.
  2. Leopard print also qualifies as a neutral print, a great way to do print mix with leopard is with shoes or accessories in the form of bag, belt or choker.
  3. Depending on your body shape choose a bolder print on the areas you want to highlight and a conservative one on the area you want to conceal.
  4. Going monochrome is another great way to mix prints, i.e choose different prints but keep the colours same.

What i wore- Blouse- Zara, Jeans- Zara, Loafers- Topshop

This look is rocking two of the top trends for autumn I paired my polka dots blouse with my two tone denim that gives the side stripe look and leopard loafers, comfy and chic for meetings as well as for casual days.

As stoked as i am but it is what it is, i am not doing any fashion week this season, last few months have been quite busy on the personal front, i don’t see it changing till the end of the year so i decided to take off from LFW and MFW. Will however try to attend a day or two of the AIFW in delhi, fingers crossed. But have been looking at all the street style inspirations coming from  NYFW and today i am sharing with you, well in time, this is the best time to shop for the season ahead, the top 10 trends for autumn 2017.

  1. The heritage check - Never have been cooler and chicer. If there is only one trend you want to choose make it this one. Blazers, jackets, trousers they are just everywhere but the one item i find super versatile is the double breasted blazer. Something that can stay in your wardrobe and be easily worn with  jeans, trousers, skirts alike. I just got one from Zara and i am so obsessed that i couldn't even wait to shoot it and just took this picture, haha but you will see it in outfit posts very soon!!!
  2. Pant suit - Ah so fun and powerful, i have been obsessed with the masculine feminine contrast and this trend is perfect if you like to play that as well.
  3. Red - If red intimidates you check this post how to wear red i did in June. Definitely give red a shot.
  4. Velvet - Come autumn and the focus shifts to more luxurious fabrics. Velvet is great to add detailings to your looks and if you love to play around with texture.
  5. Pointed toe shoes specially in kitten heel also white and red. Everyone at NYFW was wearing either a pointed toe or a kitten heel or shoes in white or shoes in red.
  6. Polka dots - the one trend that has spilled over from ss17, check this post on polkas, polka dots on blouses, jumpers, shoes, belts, trousers, you name it!
  7. Metallics have been trending for a couple of years now for a/w and if you already bought some pieces great news the trend continues.
  8. Feminine details - Ruffles and statement sleeves - The other trends that have spilled over from last seasons.
  9. Dark florals - How can it be autumn without dark florals! Its actually one trend almost everyone can wear, even girls who don’t like florals as much because dark florals kinda have a minimal and edgy vibe.
  10. Wide leg trousers and side stripes on jeans / trousers.

The great part about these trends is that they are all very wearable and will transition well into winter.

Which one is your favourite? Have you started shopping?

As promised on friday today i am going to share easy tips on how you can find your personal style.

indian blog, indian blogger, top indian blog, indian luxury blog, uk blog, british blog, london blog, delhi blogger, delhi travel blogger, indian travel blog, how to find personal style, leopard shoes, ruffle top, two tone denim, effortless chic, how to style jeans, jeans girl, autumn fashion, autumn trend, white and blue, white blue red, style ruffles, red earrings, neutral outfit, street style, london street style, top blogger outfit, fashion week outfit, tips on personal style, weekend outfit, formal denim outfit

  1. First and foremost understand your lifestyle and your goals. For e.g If your lifestyle involves a 9-5 job then your wardrobe and personal style should support that similarly remember the old saying ‘dress for the life you want not the one you have’ so look at your life goals and what lifestyle you see yourself living couple of years down the line. Let your personal style evolve to reflect that.
  2. Know your body shape and your assets. Try a few different styles to know what silhouettes and shapes enhance your figure, if in doubt take a friend or family members help. This is important because no matter what style you like if it doesn’t suit your shape it will be a flop and you will eventually not be happy with it.
  3. Look into your existing wardrobe and see what dominates it. Can be shirts or tees or dresses or whatever. I ask you to do this because what dominates your wardrobe shows what you really like and feel comfortable in,  there is no point to fight what you like, just have to play around with it. I know i am a jeans girl and if wearing jeans gives me confidence and is in sync with my lifestyle why the hell should i want to change wearing them!!! Strongly recommend going with signature staples.
  4. With steps 1, 2 and 3 done its time to get inspired. Whether you have or do not have a style icon i suggest you go to pinterest or instagram and save images you like. If you have an icon or two most of the images will be theirs and it will be an assurance that you genuinely like them otherwise you will find new inspirations so a win win. Now the golden rule to follow when you save images. Every image is made of 3 things 1. the outfit, 2. the setting, 3. the hair and makeup. You agree it is the mood the vibe of the image that attracts us, many times we just love the picture and not really the outfit but are not aware and clearly we don’t have to get inspired by that mood or the picture, it is the style we are looking for so when you break the image into 3 you will be able to clearly focus on number 1 the outfit. Then ask does the outfit match my lifestyle? Will it still be cute with my hair and my usual makeup? Have i ever worn it or something similar and how i felt? Save if you have positive answers.
  5. In your saved pictures you will see a clear pattern of outfits. There might be colour blocking outfits or monochrome looks or simple outfits with focus on accessories or prints or neutral colours or clean cuts or oversized or dresses or trousers. There you have it.
  6. Now put a label on the pattern you see. It is classic or minimal or effortless or bohemian or trendy or maximal, etc.  There might be more than one label, allow yourself three.
  7. Its time to delete all the pieces from your wardrobe that do not fit and add new pieces that fit perfectly into your found style/label. But before you buy anything make sure the piece makes you feel absolutely amazing. You might not have the budget to do it all at once which is fine, personal style is a process add so remove consciously and slowly.

Once you find your signature style dont be afraid of repeating the same outfit in different variations.  Don't let social media or anything pressurize you to wear something new or different every time. Look at the french girls!!! Thankfully i found my personal style and don't mind at all to wear my uniform of jeans 5 days in a row!!!!!

Have you found your personal style? Hope these tips are helpful.

Personal style, gosh the sole reason i started this blog. To find it and improve it!!!! Now before i delve deeper into my own personal style, what it is, how i found it and why you should too, let me put the most important thing i learnt in the last 2.5 years and that is,  personal style is just a state it is not forever until u keep it that way. That means it changes, evolves with what you see, where you go and are, the people you meet, etc etc. So i wouldn’t say the style i have right now is forever because as a person i constantly evolve and my signature style at any point is only a reflection of that current state and totally open to changes and who knows it might be completely different a couple of years down the line, i guess thats the beauty of fashion!!!!

Why you must find your personal style - It makes your life so much easy because you know what looks good on you and you feel great in so you only buy those things. And when you buy appropriate pieces you don’t waste time making and matching outfits, your wardrobe is like a zen everything goes with almost everything and most importantly you wear everything so no money waste!!!!

What my style is-  Simple, effortless, chic with some amount of edge and romance but before everything super comfortable!!! Now that describes my style but what pieces exactly make my style? here they are breaking into clothing, shoes, accessories and hair.
Clothing- As much as any other girl i like wearing dresses and skirts but i absolutely love wearing jeans/ trousers. I feel great with jeans / trousers on and obviously when i feel great my day is bound to be great!!!! Between the two as also seen on the blog i mostly wear jeans because of my lifestyle so i am always looking for great pairs and my current favourite is the straight leg as for trousers i like wide leg. I like to pair them with basic tee’s or chic blouses mostly white or the same colour as the bottom. A sucker for monochrome and talking of white, you guys know its my absolute favourite colour all year, other colours i choose are blue, grey, pale pink, nude, red and black in order.
Shoes and accessories- I like to bring more interest to my looks with my shoes and accessories. So it will not be wrong to say that I take many liberties when it comes to shoes and accessories. Mules both heeled and flat, loafers, pointed toe kitten heels, converse are all love at the moment.  When it comes to jewellery my one and only choice is earrings with the rarest of rare exception of chokers and dainty necklace. Earrings just bring so much to all my outfits, from satetemnt pieces to sleek i like to experiment and choose the best one for the look. Not much of a bag person and i mostly like an easy to carry fuss free shoulder bag but i am totally digging the bucket bags at the moment!!
Hair- 9/10 times hair in a braid. With the length of my hair it becomes super difficult to be active and do stuff when my hair is open, doesn’t hurt since i love braids!! Hair plays a big role in bringing romance to my looks.

I love details in outfits and layering so autumn winter fashion is more exciting!!!!

Guys after i found and most importantly decided to stick to this particular style my life has been so easy, i barely take a minute or two to decide what i have to wear, all the pieces look great with each other and i always have loads of options even though i only shop three max four times a year.

What i wore - Top- asos, Jeans- asos, shoe- river island

With Personal style and my style addressed in this post i am going to write about how you can find your own signature style/personal style in the next post, actually wanted to cover everything in one post but this is already huge!! So next post, monday.

I so loved writing this post, regular readers know but feels great to share.

Denim on Denim, well i have to admit it is one of the easiest outfits to wear and super duper chic. A no brainer look everyone can pull off because everybody owns denim bottom and denim top be it a shirt or a blouse or a denim jacket. Having said that it can also be a super flop think Brittany spears and Justin Timberlake in 2001 so today i am sharing my top tips on how to rock a denim on denim look.

  1. Play with different shades, i.e choosing the bottom in a different shade than the top.
  2. Play with accessories, since your outfit is one colour bring more interest to your look with statement shoes, earrings bags etc.
  3. Choose pieces with detailing e.g instead of choosing a plain skinny jeans go for trendy styles like step hem or cropped or frayed. Likewise for tops you can choose embellished or embroidered pieces
  4. Animal print is a winner with denim on denim outfit. Specially leopard print. Wear leo print shoes or bag or even a belt.
  5. Colours that look super chic with denim on denim outfit are nude, pale pink, red, camel and black.
  6. Wear red lipstick to make a statement.
  7. As for jewellery i personally find silver and rose gold to be more flattering but it totally depends on what metal looks good on your complexion.
  8. If you are not a fan of the canadian tuxedo i.e wearing one colour denim look, a great way is to wear different colours of denim e.g a grey or black bottom paired with a blue denim jacket.
