How to make a timeless classic look fresh

A timeless classic with respect to fashion in my opinion is something that has stood the test of fashion times, is possible to wear in n number of ways and something which majority people find easy to wear because it looks good on them. Its also the pillar of any wardrobe and the backbone of many many outfits. Not those high fashion eye catching pieces that come and go, you may or may not spot them first in a look but they are the work horses without which the eye catching pieces may completely fail. I am talking about the likes of dark wash jeans, white T, leather jacket, ankle boots, etc.  Its always advisable to first make sure u have those classics in your wardrobe before u begin to get the high fashion stuff. 

After wearing and re wearing classics we often think how to make them look fresh for e.g the skinny jeans that you  have been wearing for the last 5 years, how do you make it look fresh for today, so here are a few ways to make classics look fresh and modern:

1 The most obvious is to wear with something totally current so if you are wearing ur classic skinny jeans on the bottom wear a statement sweater with flared sleeves on top or like in todays outfit a bomber jacket.

2 Mix masculine and feminine like a midi dress worn with a boyfriend blazer.

3 Update your classic pieces for e.g the ankle boots they look great with skinnies, flared jeans, midi skirts, almost everything so it is a good idea to update them because you know u will get a ton of use anyways. Could be a colour change from black to another neutral that works well for your wardrobe like khaki or camel or the super flattering socks style that i am wearing today.

3 U can totally update your classic look by choosing fun accessories so if your outfit is a white shirt with jeans maybe wear a statement earring like the trendy tassel ones right now.

4 Belting is a great way to make classics look modern. I am a huge fan of belting it gives a waistline and also makes any outfit look very fresh and modern.

5 Pairing with an on trend colour like a black polo neck with a jacket in the pantone colours of the year, which for 2016 were pale pink and pale blue and for 2017 is bright green aka greenery.
