Winter is not particularly a great time for skin. Dryness, flakiness, breakouts & blemishes, some of the common problems, my skin also gets tight and uncomfortable. So last year in the last leg of winter i put together the changes in my diet and habbits/ rituals come a/w to find out what i was not doing right and what i should do to keep my skin looking fabulous. It is working well and my skin feels better than it usually does around this time so i thought of putting all that i have been doing on the blog.
1. Do not skip water, if you are bad keep an alarm for every hour or hour an a half.
2. Do not get lazy and follow ur skin rituals cleanse, tone and moisturize.
3. Do not over cleanse, since the cold weather takes away a lot of moisture from our skin do not over cleanse, may be if u use clarisonic or something bring the frequency down from a min to 30 secs or from twice a day to once, specially if you have dry or sensitive skin.
4. Do not splash hot water on ur face no matter how cold, lukewarm is the best.
5. Do not skip sunscreen no matter whether the sun is out or no there are other radicals in the environment that have the same effect as sun rays and even if we don’t see the sun it doesn’t mean that the harmful rays are not present.
6. Keep a check on the hot caffeinated liquids you consume. If you really feel like having something warm just have warm water.
7. Do include some form of exercise if you can’t go out because of the cold, practice indoors like yoga or squats or just put your fav music and dance off. Physical activity takes out the stress in our body and flushes out toxins, both great to keep the skin clear and flushed.
8. It might be convenient to just order home delivery on cold lazy days but its really not the best thing, after all home cooked meals are the the most nourishing for ur health, skin included. Cooking can also be a fun family activity plus a stress reliever.
9. Include omega oils in your diet to nourish the skin from inside good sources are fish oil capsules and flaxseed oil for vegetarians.
10.You can also massage your face with essential oils, if that sounds too complicated good old coconut oil is great.
11. Snack on nuts they are rich in the good oils great for the skin.
Now to the second part of this post
I am sure you have heard of Vichy, if not its a french skin care brand that is very popular and loved all over the world. I recently received their Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum which i think is great for todays topic i.e winter skin, using it for about a month and here is a rundown of what i think,
The packaging
I am super impressed, its made of glass, yes but a hard one, very luxe looking and comes in a pump bottle which is very convenient to use. I also love the blue colour of the bottle.
What it is for?
To deeply hydrate the skin.
The ingredients
All listed on the packaging to name a few glycols, silicones and fragrances.
No paraben, mineral oil.
Application
Two pumps are more than enough, apply normally on your face.
Where to use in makeup routine?
Since its a serum after toner before sunscreen/ moisturizer. Does not interfere with makeup.
Skin types
Any
How does it feel on the skin?
Absorbs instantly into the skin and its not sticky or oily
What i found good
My skin is dry and gets tight in the winter as i mentioned and this has worked quite good for that. Does a good job at hydration, i noticed my stubborn dry patches also relieved and overall luminance of the skin improved.
One day just to test it out i skipped moisturizer and my skin felt quite comfortable until 2 hours or so after that i definitely felt the need to moisturize.
What i did not find good
I try to avoid products with fragrances as they have caused allergies in the past, and this has quite a strong one but having said that the fragrance does not last more than 5 mins and has not irritated my skin till now, if it does i will def let you know.
Price for 30 ml
Hope this post was helpful, have you used this Vichy serum, anything that you would like to share also would love to know any changes that you have done in your diet/ habbits/ rituals from skin point of view for winter.
Thank you for stopping by! See you in my next one.
Love
Chichi
I have dry skin all year long so this sounds like something I would love to try out. Simera |Beautetude
ReplyDeleteI'm much prone to forget drinking water this time of the year as I constantly want tea, so it's a good idea to set a reminder. The Vichy serum sounds amazing too x

Great post dear :)

Good that this Vichy serum didn't irritate your skin, despite the fragrance. I have sensitive skin, but I like Vichy products and serums, and I would love to try this one. I also agree with your tips for treating skin - water is a must. I drink a lot of water everyday, I love water! Hope you have a nice week!

Great post. I think a lot of people under estimate how much of a difference drinking enough water makes!

Great tips, my skin often suffers in the cold. I've recently started swapping a lot of the tea I used to drink for hot water, it's surprisingly nice once you get a taste for it, I don't feel like I'm missing out at all!
ReplyDeleteI think winter is the most annoying season for my skin! These tips are great and I definitely agree that water makes all the difference. The Vichy Serum sounds really soothing and hydrating too!

I love how you have reviewed the serum,it is a great product. Most of us think that our skin only needs attention during sunny days but they forget that winter hits the skin pretty hard leaving it dry prone to a lot of bacteria.

These are all such great suggestions for maintaining healthy, luminous skin during the winter months! I love the one on drinking warm water when having caffeinated cravings. I've only had it a few times in my life, but I've heard that warm water is supposed to be so good for you and better than drinking cold. I've heard such great things about Vichy's skincare, but I've never tried anything personally. I'll have to keep them in mind because again, all I've ever heard are great things! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great week so far!

my husband always says that I'm a camel because I can drink so much water at once. Great post! Your tips for preserving our health and protecting our skin in the colder months are wonderful. I'm a big tea and coffee addict, but even I realize that there is a limit as to how much cups I should have daily so I often just drink warm water with lemon- it tastes just like tea...well almost:) but it is pretty good alternative to coffee and tea.
ReplyDeleteThis Vichy serum sounds fantastic!!!!!!!!

What a great review, Chichi. I love all of your tips for more beautiful skin in winter. Getting exercise is my favorite one - it makes such a difference in my experience. I don't really go all out on skin products, but my curiosity is majorly piqued about this Vichy one. Thanks for sharing!
